Setting up Godaddy domain name on Bluehost is actually quite simple that even novice can follow this without hassle. So, without further ado, here is how to setup Godaddy domain name on Bluehost:
Step 1. Alter the Nameservers in GoDaddy
Go to Godaddy‘s website and log-in to your account.
Under the My Account menu, click on the visit my domains button in the bottom of your Account’s drop-box.
After doing so, choose the particular domain name that you want to point to your Bluehost.
By clicking it, you will be led to this page:
From here, click on the upper icon of the white box which has list of sub-menus and choose the one under Message menu, Domain Details.
By doing so, you will be led into this window where all the details of the certain domain will be shown including the nameservers.
The default Godaddy nameservers will be “NSxx.DOMAINCONTROL.COM” in which xx will represent two digits. Under the Nameservers, you will see a link which says Manage. The default setup type of your Nameserver is Standard, so, change this and select the Custom type instead.

Go to Bluehost and log-in your account. Under the Domain menu, select Domain List. Then Choose Your Domain and finally, the Name Servers.
Now, back to the GoDaddy page, if you are already done changing the nameservers, then you will have to wait for up to 48 hours for the change to be visible. A notification will pop-out which shows a checked Set Nameservers which means that you have already made changes with the nameservers.
Step 2 – Add a Domain in Bluehost
If you are finally done with the first step, then add your newly created domain now into the Bluehost cPanel. If you are still creating a new account in Bluehost, then, it would be much easier to use the domain of Godaddy as the primary domain and then setup your account. However, if you have an existing Bluehost account and had already set a primary domain prior to this new domain that you have, then add the additional domain that you have registered to Godaddy. From Bluehost cPanel, add new domain.
Under the domain menu, click Assign Domain which is the third link in the side bar.
After doing so, you will be led to another page for Assign Domain. You will have to enter your domain that is not yet associated with your Bluehost account. It is the domain from the Godaddy that you have just recently made.
If you are already done, then you have successfully assigned your new domain and can now be seem under the domain list in Bluehost.
Step 3 – Check your Website
After successfully changing your domain in Bluehost, the Godaddy domains will display domain message. If ever a change is made with the nameservers from your Bluehost account then the message will display as well.
